SOCIAL SECTOR NETWORKING NIGHT:
MARKET YOURSELF

POSTPONED TO A FUTURE DATE - TBD

A special event co-sponsored by:
Careers in NonProfits
40Plus of Greater Washington
Foundation Center
Impact Hub DC

Meet people from all corners of the philanthropic world, forge potential collaborations, or just enjoy a stimulating conversation.

The night will include a program on marketing yourself by Christa Davis of Christa Davis Coaching.

When we think of personal branding, we often reflect on all the things we should be doing to market ourselves: building an online presence, putting ourselves out there, networking in our sectors, etc. However, in order to be successful in these activities, it is crucial we design and present a brand that feels genuine to us, aligns with what we want to achieve, and highlights our distinct value.

During the program you’ll learn:

  • What it means to market yourself
  • How to leverage your unique strengths and attributes to develop your brand
  • Explore how to overcome any barriers that are holding you back from letting your brand shine
Bring your organization's promotional materials for the display table and plenty of your business cards. There will be refreshments and door prizes.
This networking event is for anyone and everyone who supports the work of the social sector.

Careers in Nonprofits
is built on the idea that great people want to work with great causes. There are many talented candidates who have a passion for working with nonprofits but not many resources focused on nonprofit careers. We connect the best people with the best causes. Our team of nonprofit career professionals has years of experience matching candidates with nonprofit organizations. Serving Chicago, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C., we have extensive networks of connections and strategic partnerships with nonprofit organizations.

40Plus of Greater Washington is an all-volunteer, nonprofit organization offering a proven system of hands-on training, peer support, networking, volunteering, and talks by experts on topics of interest to professionals in career transition. 40 Plus has helped more than 8,000 area professionals land rewarding jobs and new careers since our founding in 1953.

40Plus was founded during the Great Depression.  In 1939, Henry Simler, an executive with the Remington Rand company, created a “40 Plus Committee” at New York City’s Sales Executive Club to help over-40 executives who were having difficulty finding jobs.

Four American giants formed the New York organization’s first Advisory Board: Tom Watson, president and founder of IBM; James Cash Penney, founder of J.C. Penney & Co.; Arthur Godfrey, popular radio and TV personality; and Norman Vincent Peale, minister, inspirational speaker, and author of The Power of Positive Thinking. The concept spread to cities throughout the U.S.

They realized that a program combining training, motivation, and support, led by and for unemployed people, would work wonders.  That's still true today.
